Managing a Forklift Planned Maintenance Program

Material Handling Best Practices, Tips, Information and More from Toyota

DSC_2120A forklift Planned Maintenance (PM) plan with a Toyota dealer can dramatically increase the life of your material handling and other industrial or commercial equipment. Here are four tips to properly manage your PM:

  • Get to know your dealer. Industrial equipment is a huge investment. Get to know to know the people who help you manage that investment and develop a partnership rather than a typical business relationship.

  • Ask to see a PM inspection form. This will tell you how thoroughly your equipment will be checked.

  • Ask for referrals. It’s always smart to check with current customers to make sure you’ll get great service. Your Toyota dealer will be happy to connect you with a number of happy customers.

  • Ask for PM completion rates. It’s essential to know how many forklifts are being serviced according to the planned maintenance agreement. If completion rates are low, the service provider isn’t doing their job well.
