Kaly Hudson a six-year-old from Seymour, Indiana brightens the lives of everyone she meets. Even though she is battling spinal muscular atrophy, a disease which weakens the spinal cord, this vibrant six year old loves everything Disney including princesses, mermaids, and the magic that Disney World creates.
Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Kaly’s dream was to visit Disney World with her grandparents. Toyota Material Handling, USA was eager to make that dream come true. The company set a goal for associates to raise half of the necessary funds to send Kaly to Disney World. If the associates met the goal, the company pledged to match the dollars raised. Associates came together through a series of fundraising events and were able to reach their goal! Brett Wood, Toyota Material Handling North America CEO stated, “The Make-A-Wish Foundation has had a tremendous and positive impact for recipients and their families. The work this organization conducts to help children with serious illnesses across the USA, gives hope to these deserving children and their families. We, as an organization, were extremely humbled to help make a wish come true for a local child in Indiana.”
Toyota Material Handling, USA associates were excited to meet the recipient of their fundraising efforts; therefore, Kaly was invited to serve as the “CEO for a Day” with Toyota! Kaly was greeted by associates in a grand entrance filled with balloons, bubbles, and even a “Toyota orange” carpet. She accompanied Brett Wood, to his office where she carried out important duties such as, choosing a social media post that was shared on Toyota’s Facebook page, picking a local charity for associates to support, touring the Toyota Forklifts factory, and even helping with the production of a forklift. To finish out the day, Kaly was visited by two of her favorite Disney princess, Anna and Elsa from Frozen!
Thank you, Kaly for spending a day with Toyota and thank you to the Make-A-Wish foundation for playing such a vital role in the lives of children and their families across the United States to make dreams come true.
