Josh Smith (00:19):
You might consider renting a forklift because business picks up, you’re expanding, you have more demand on fast order delivery, or you might have to rent a forklift because yours is in the shop and you rely on it. But have you ever thought of renting a forklift just to test it out prior to a purchase? A forklift purchase or lease is a significant investment, so it’s important to make sure the forklift fits your needs. Would you purchase or lease a car without test driving it first? No. So why would you purchase or lease a forklift without a test in your facility or working environment? If you’re considering purchasing or leasing a forklift, consider renting it first to best understand these things. Is the forklift comfortable enough for your operators? Depending on how many hours you’re putting on the forklift, ergonomics is important. Make sure you can spend as many hours as you need to on your forklift comfortably. Statistics show a comfortable operator is a productive operator.

Josh Smith (01:12):
Is this forklift right for your job? Renting is a great way to test the forklift in your specific application. Does it fit in your aisles? Does it reach high enough? Does it drive smoothly enough? Does it help productivity? Can it help your business? All of these questions can be answered prior to a longterm commitment.

Josh Smith (01:31):
Next, think about price. Try renting two different forklifts at two different price points and see if the more expensive forklift is really worth it. However, remember that your load weight is unlikely to change, so make sure your rentals can handle the appropriate capacity. Before you purchase or lease your next forklift consider testing it first through a rental and ensure your investment is one you’re satisfied with. And remember, your Toyota dealer is always there to help.
