Specific industries and work applications often require either special forklift attachments or unique fork designs. For instance, a paper roll isn’t going to sit nicely on forks, so a clamp is needed to move it without causing product damage. At Toyota, we understand that every material handling need is different, and we offer many different accessories, attachments, and designs to make your forklift work for you. If your material handling work requires the ability to move your forks laterally, a side shifter or fork positioner attachment would be best for you. The ability to move the forks left and right remotely eliminates the need for the operator to get on and off the forklift to do it manually, decreasing operator error and fatigue, and ultimately increasing productivity. As an added bonus, pallet and material damage decreases as proper fork alignment increases.

If you have eliminated pallets from your work environment, carton clamps are a potential solution. With two hydraulic functions, one for side shift and one for opening and closing the arms, the carton clamp keeps pallet-less materials safe and secure during movement.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
At paper mills, converting operations, and printing houses where neither pallets nor clamps are beneficial, the paper roll clamp is the most common forklift attachment. Toyota’s Paper Roll Special IC cushion forklift is specially designed for paper roll handling.

Toyota also has a solution for lifting heavy loads in confined spaces, such as loading and unloading rail cars. The Box Car Special internal combustion forklift model can lift between 8,000 pounds and 12,000 pounds in tight quarters. With a higher but more compact counterweight, the Box Car Special design does not sacrifice load weight for maneuverability.
