Speaker 1 (00:17):
When was the last time you took a good hard look at your warehouse space and considered whether or not you’re using it effectively? Are plans in place to accommodate increased sales, acquisition or expansion? If you haven’t done any space planning in your warehouse, you’re likely wasting not only space but money. Unused space costs the same but doesn’t provide anything in return, and it’s easier than ever to optimize existing space with the help of your local Toyota forklift dealer. Toyota dealers regularly conduct site surveys to consult and assist customers in maximizing existing space, implementing useful racking systems, and ensuring the right most efficient forklifts are in use for your application. Check out these four easy tips to help you start the process of optimizing your warehouse.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Number one, choose the right storage system to maximize usage of your space. Toyota offers a wide variety of forklift solutions to accommodate applications requiring dense storage. For instance, with pallet flow racking, you can double or triple capacity compared to a conventional pallet rack. If loaded in the back and unloaded from the front pallet flow systems are a first in first out system to help you manage product rotation. Number two, if your warehouse is rectangular, your racking should most likely be run long ways. It’s the most efficient way to set up your Isles. Number three, make sure you’re using all vertical space. Too many times there’s vertical space on top of pallets that goes unused. Many of Toyota’s warehousing solutions can lift to over 30 feet, increasing your vertical stacking capabilities. Number four, always slot your pallets for maximum accessibility. Skews with the highest frequency of turns should be placed together in the most accessible locations. Most of the time, the most accessible location is at ground level, allowing a picker to use an electric pallet jack, rather than needing a larger forklift or order picker.
